Q. How do I use KidsAllowanceBank.com?
A. The first step is to create a Parent account, using the New Account
button at the left. You will be sent an e-mail with information on how to activate
your account. You will then be able to Sign In and manage your Parent account. You
will create a Child account for each kid. Once the Child account are created, you
can add and withdraw money from their virtual allowance accounts, and the kids will
be able to Sign In and see how much money they have available!
Q. My Parent Account asks for my e-mail address. Will I receive spam mail?
A. No. KidsAllowanceBank.com will not distribute, resell, or otherwise use your
e-mail information for any purposes unrelated to the KidsAllowanceBank site. We
only use your e-mail address for the following purposes:
- To provide you with a unique user name.
- To provide a verified e-mail account for site registration and to allow you to recover
a lost password.
- To send notices related to KidsAllowanceBank.com, such as allowance withdrawal requests
from your kids.
Q. Why would I use this site?
A. It gives parents an easy way to give their kids allowance money, and provides a fun
way for kids to keep track of their allowance while learning basic banking skills
at the same time.
Q. How can I get help with KidsAllowanceBank.com?
A. You can visit the user group at
http://groups.google.com/group/kidsallowancebank, or e-mail us at
help@kidsallowancebank.com.
Q. Is this site really free? Are there any hidden charges here?
A. Yes, the site is completely free. There is no harmful spyware, adware, etc. at
this site. All transactions use imaginary "virtual" money, and you will never be
asked for real-life credit card or bank account information. The site is supported
entirely by the Google ads you see at the bottom of the pages.
Q. Why did you make this site?
A. I am a parent with 2 young daughters. I thought
that it would be an interesting and fun way to give them their allowance. Sometimes I would forget to give them their allowance.
Other times I just didn’t have the cash in my pocket to give them. By creating
this site I can just add money to their accounts and they get to see it like a ‘real’
bank account.
Q. Are there going to be enhancements to KidsAllowanceBank.com?
A. Yes! Here is the current list of ideas we have:
- Multiple accounts for each child (ie, checking, saving, etc)
- Ability to delete child accounts
- A list of household 'chores' for the kids to check
- Ability for parents to define 'bonuses' for the kids to do to earn extra allowance
- Recurring/Automatic allowance entries
- 'Interest' on savings
- Christmas wish list
Q. Are there any restrictions on the use of this site?
A. No. Please feel free to experiment with this site. You may setup as many Parent accounts
as you like. Keep in mind that each Parent account must have a unique, functional
e-mail address.
Q. I am an educator or childcare professional. Can I use this site for an educational
purpose?
A. Yes, please feel free to setup accounts to demonstrate how financial transactions
work in the real world. There is no limit to the number
of children that may be managed under a parent account, so you can easily track
a whole class using a single account. I would be interested in any suggestions
as well.
